Hello! I am Jimena Orozco (she/her), a BFA Theatre Design & Technology graduate from Texas Tech University.

My primary focus is costume design, with a growing interest in scenic design and props.

 

Collaboration is something I deeply value as a theatre artist and designer. It continually challenges me creatively and has allowed me to meet some truly incredible people along the way. I believe the most meaningful theatre experiences come from working closely with a team of artists to bring a shared vision to life, and I strive to bring support and kindness into every space I’m part of.

 

My design portfolio includes Associate Costume Design work for The Nerve of Minerva and Lead Costume Design work for Water by the Spoonful both produced at Texas Tech. I have also expanded into Scenic design and Prop creation by working as both an Assistant Scenic Designer and a Props Artisan on Bright Star at Texas Tech University. I received the KCACTF Region 6-Randy Lutz Award for Excellence in Allied Crafts for my work on Bright Star, and after learning of Randy and his legacy it was even more meaningful to me.

 

Beyond theatre, I’ve had the opportunity to expand my skills into film, where I’ve worked in styling and SFX makeup. I styled for The Bear Productions and created special effects makeup for a student-directed short film.

 

Professionally, I served as a Crafts Assistant at Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre (UFOMT), where I contributed to several productions. Two of my favorite projects were designing and constructing the dentist’s “special gas mask” for Little Shop of Horrors and hand-painting multiple cat suits for Cats. Storytelling and craftsmanship are at the core of my artistic approach, and I’m always eager to explore new ways to bring characters to life through my designs.
