 ABOUT ME

JIMENA OROZCO HS.jpg

I'm Jimena Orozco (she/her), a fourth-year BFA Theatre Design & Technology student at Texas Tech University. My primary focus is costume design, but I’ve recently developed a growing interest in scenic design. Collaboration is at the heart of my creative process—I believe the most meaningful theatre experiences come from working closely with a team of artists to bring a shared vision to life.

My design portfolio includes costume design for Water by the Spoonful and assistant costume design for The Secretaries, both produced at Texas Tech. In 2024, I was honored to receive the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 6-RED in DTM Individual Excellence in Design award for my work on Water by the Spoonful.

Beyond theatre, I’ve had the opportunity to expand my skills into film, where I’ve worked in styling and SFX makeup. I styled for The Bear Productions and created special effects makeup for a student-directed short film.

Professionally, I served as a Crafts Assistant at Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre (UFOMT), where I contributed to several productions. Two of my favorite projects were designing and constructing the dentist’s “special gas mask” for Little Shop of Horrors and hand-painting multiple cat suits for Cats.

Storytelling and craftsmanship are at the core of my artistic approach, and I’m always eager to explore new ways to bring characters to life through my designs.
